Moms are some of the busiest individuals in the world. We’re far past the days when it was
assumed that upon receiving their diplomas, women would get married and run a household for the
rest of their lives. Instead, these days, women are known for getting advanced degrees and/or
contributing to the workforce, all while balancing their home lives.
A lot of moms start their own businesses so they can make their own hours, manage a team, and
explore their creativity while providing goods or services to the people who need them. But, as any
business owner knows, starting a company takes a lot of time and effort.
After getting off the ground, leaders still need to devote many hours to the startup—but this
population of “mompreneurs” is juggling other responsibilities as well. Is there any way for them to
find shortcuts that would mean more effective time management at the company and more hours at
home?
Automation means more free time
If company owners who are also moms look to accounting software for help, they’re going to find a
lot of relief. What’s the other alternative? Take care of all financial tasks manually? That would only
add more hours to the time required to run a business.
According to a Sage 50 and Angus Reid study, the average company owner spends 6.8 hours
every week on financial management. What if mompreneurs could cut some time out of this by
automating functions with software? That would mean a significant chunk of time they could spend
with their little ones.
In a corporate sense, automating things like accounts payable and receivable would not only be a
time-saving choice but would also allow for more efficiency and ensure that figures are always
correct.
Stop worrying
Spending 6.8 hours per week on fiscal responsibilities likely means a lot of headaches. What if a
number was put in the incorrect place or the wrong format was used when handling finances
manually? This would likely tack many more hours on and might mean homework, taking more
time away from family and relaxation time. This can easily lead to burnout, which won’t do the
company or the household any good.
If mompreneurs set everything up using accounting programs, that particular type of worry and
stress could be all but eliminated. Handling finances could go from being a headache to being
accomplished with a few keystrokes and clicks every day.
